CTAP 1 Online

A 45 minute introduction to CTAP Online for educators who would like to use the online courses to develop a Region 8 CTAP Level 1 portfolio. At this introduction, you will receive a CTAP Online account, instructions for developing a portfolio, and course handouts. There is a $50 fee for the workshop.

Prerequisites: ActivInspire or ActivStudio abilities include:

Proficiency in creating flipchart lesson,exploring Resource Browser/Library and using ActivSoftware math tools
Beginning usage of camera and video recorder tools, creating action objects, and inserting/embedding media files and web links

Materials: A flash drive (to save and share your work)

In this hands-on workshop, participants will use real world scenarios to help students construct and deepen abstract and concrete concepts. Educators will explore interactive lessons while holding students accountable for their learning.

Share ideas and collaborate with other County ActivEducators
Participate in a Q&A period

Prerequisites for hands-on learning communities are:

ActivBoards in your classroom
ActivStudio or ActivInspire on your computer/laptop
Created lesson plans/flipcharts to use with your students

As this will be a hands-on session, please make sure to bring a laptop with ActivStudio or ActivInspire currently loaded. Make sure you have a started flipchart that you would like to enhance.

You MUST pre-register online to ensure space availability.

Nicenet.org - Create a web-based learning environment

Nicenet.org: a SAFE, FREE, EASY to navigate web-based learning environment for classrooms that digital immigrants and natives can set up and maintain.

Prerequisites:
1) An open-mind that is ready to think slightly out of the box
2) Bring Your Own Laptops or data connected devices

Content Overview:
1) Web-based Professional Learning Community
2) Setting up your own Nicenet "blog"
3) Ways to implement the use of your classroom blog for academics

The features of this web-based learning environment include:
1) Conferencing - Create your own private, threaded conferencing on topics you make for the class or opt to allow students to create their own topics.
2) Scheduling - Put the class schedule on-line. With a seven day advance view on your class homepage, students will have a heads-up display of upcoming assignments and class events.
3) Document Sharing - Students and professors have the ability to publish their documents on the site using simple web-based forms. No knowledge of HTML is needed. Automatically integrated with scheduling, students are one click away from turning in their assignments on-line, giving their peers feedback on published papers and receiving professors comments.
4) Personal Messaging - Similar to traditional email but fully integrated with document sharing and conferencing, personal messaging is a great way to communicate with, and between, individuals in your class, comment privately on conferencing postings or give private feedback on published papers.
5) Link Sharing - Share links to pertinent Internet resources sorted by topics that you create.

After attending this workshop, teachers will be able to set up and maintain nicenet.org blogs in classrooms, utilizing functions that aid in academics and create enthusiasm in your students.

Building Strong Digital Citizenship: How Parents Can Help

We need to provide parents with facts about their child’s digital life, including responsible use of social networking, and consequences of sexting, illegal peer-to-peer file sharing, and cyberbullying. Targeted for site administrators, this workshop will provide free resources and tools for hosting Parent Ed Nights.
